They are a nest of wasps―a swarm of vermin which have overcrept the land. Like the frogs of Egypt they have gotten possession of our dwellings, and we have scarce a room free from them. They sup in our cup; they dip in our dish; they sit by our fire. We find them in the dye‐fat, wash‐bowl, and powdering‐tub. They share with the butler in his box. They will not bait us a pin. We may not buy our clothes without their brokage. These are the leeches that have sucked the commonwealth so hard that it is almost hectical.
(Speech of Sir John Colepeper — representative of the County of Kent — in the House of Commons in 1640, presenting the grievances of the inhabitants of his county.)
The book “UKRAINE. There Is a Way Out…” – is not about exposures, not about pursuits, intrigues, and idle gossip; it is about the solution of the problem.
It is about our losses, about the necessity to count our losses, to keep score of them.
It is about our needs, about the necessity to count our needs, to keep score of them.
It is clear that for this certain measures are required, actions are required.
It is necessary to create prospects, so that hands do not fall hopelessly, do not sink in despair, beyond all hope.
It is clear that of the problem it is necessary to speak not only deeply, but also broadly;
it is necessary to speak of individual units,
but it is also necessary to speak of us as a whole;
to speak of the wrong approach,
of our poverty imposed upon us,
fastened upon us as a yoke,
drawn tight upon our necks and declared to be just and natural,
yet which in its very depth is not ours.
